SHERLOCK WOWED EVERYONE (INCLUDING ME) AT CLASS TONIGHT!

An update from 2-16-09:
Yesterday was Sherlock's second class in Intermediate Obedience Level I. Sherlock continues to live up to his given name. I am now convinced that he is in fact one of the smartest dogs alive. For the past week, Sherlock and I have been training for 45 minutes a day and working very hard on his on-leash heeling, sit-stays, down-stays, stand-stays, and come. He mastered the command DOWN this week. I always thought he knew it, but now I do the signal or say the word and he flies into the command, no questions asked.

Sherlock is by far the best dog in his class. They made the dogs do sit-stays, down-stays and stand-stays. He didn't move once, even when I circled back around him. He knew he had to just stay put and during his down-stays, he even rested his chin on the ground and just gave me these eyes that said, "yes, I can do this, but it's boring." The instructors commented on how great he performed and I overheard one instructor telling another instructor that Sherlock was in her basic obedience class and that he was a genius. I am just simply amazed how quickly he picks up on commands and how he is so eager to please.

Other exciting news: Sherlock turned 10 months old today, 2-17-09. He now weighs 11lbs and stands a hair under 11". My little baby is truly growing up.

Introducing Noah

BIRTH:
Noah was born on October 10, 2008 in Fountain Inn, South Carolina. He arrived in New York City on December 6, 2008. He was 8.5 weeks old and weighed 5.8lbs. His father was a 14lb apricot miniature poodle and his mother was a 17lb apricot golden retriever-miniature poodle mix. Noah is considered a "F1B miniature goldendoodle" and he is 25% golden retriever, 75% miniature poodle. His rich red color is from his red miniature poodle grandfather.

MONTH 2:
Noah flies to New York City on Delta. He arrived at La Guardia Airport at 3:30PM. There was an "airport snafu" and Delta shipped the wrong littermate to me. The real Noah went to San Francisco and was never to be seen (by me) again. I was expecting a quiet retriever-looking pup and instead ended up with my Noah, a red curly little spitfire!
Original Noah: (note the flat coat and lighter color)

My Noah: (note the curly hair and darker red color)

MONTH 3:
1-23-09: Noah is chosen as the Daily Puppy!

MONTH 4:
Noah gets neutered and graduates from Puppy Class from Andrea Arden Dog Training. He also begins Basic Obedience with Who's Walking Who Dog Training.

At 4 months, Noah weighs 14.4lbs and stands 13" tall. His front baby teeth are starting to fall out as well. He has quickly outgrown Sherlock!

Introducing Sherlock

MONTH 9:
Sherlock graduates from Who's Walking Who Dog Training Basic Obedience. He is very smart and flew through the course. His instructor told me that she had never given a dog in basic obedience such high scores in heeling. Sherlock was the only dog that was allowed to move on to intermediate level 1 obedience.

DECEMBER 25, 2008:
First Christmas in Delaware

MONTH 8:
Sherlock is slowly adjusting to sharing the spotlight. He seems to really like Noah and it's especially nice that he has a permanent playmate now. I brought Sherlock and Noah to their first professional photo shoot. Wow, are they photogenic!

MONTH 7:
Sherlock gets a new baby brother - Noah the miniature goldendoodle arrives on December 8, 2008.

MONTH 6:
Sherlock has his first play day at Rehobeth Beach in Delaware.

MONTH 5:
Sherlock loves going to the dog park at Tompkins Square Park. We survived the humid summer and now get to enjoy the beginnings of the crisp fall air.

MONTH 4:
Sherlock gets neutered! He was afraid of the cone so he wore a diaper for two weeks. He was heartbroken that he couldn't play with any dogs for two weeks. What a trooper!

MONTH 3:
I gave Sherlock his first real haircut - oops, I cut off all of his gorgeous puppy hair - He liked his new haircut a lot because it kept him cool in the humid summer heat.

MONTH 2:
Sherlock flies to New York City on American Airlines. He arrives at La Guardia Airport at 3:15 P.M.
